Overview
The Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, Inc’s Medical Legal Partnership (MLP) is the only MLP in Palm Beach County. MLP is legal services for patients of the free health care clinics in Palm Beach County. Patients are referred from the clinic to MLP for free legal consultation and/or representation. This concept that integrates the expertise of a lawyer into the health care setting through clinicians, case managers and/or social workers, allows for the root of so many health inequities to be addressed by providing an interdisciplinary approach to a person’s care.

FAQ
A person’s health is determined by a lot more than health care services and personal behavior, it is shaped by the environment – where someone lives, works, plays, and learns.
Low-income and other vulnerable communities have less access to basic needs and opportunities because of the ways in which deep-rooted, inequitable systems and practices shape their environments. In turn, people in these communities do not have an equal opportunity to thrive or reach their optimal health.
.
MLP provides advice and counsel, and representation for the following types of cases: Social Security Administration, immigration (not including court cases), landlord/tenant and administrative law denials, e.g., Medicaid denial, food stamp denials, etc., to name a few areas.
To receive a MLP intake, you have to be referred by one of our partner clinics. Go to your home health clinic and ask them if they have a Medical Legal Partnership referral program with Legal Aid. If yes, ask for a referral. If no, then you cannot receive services from MLP, however, you may qualify for another Legal Aid Society program.
