The Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County (LASPBC) has expanded its Veteran’s Advocacy Project to include offering reduced-fee bankruptcy representation to veterans in Palm Beach County.
This service is made possible through a new partnership with FurrCohen, based in Boca Raton.
“With the support of FurrCohen, we can now address a critical need for our veterans,” said Bob Bertisch, executive director of LASPBC. “We are committed to providing comprehensive legal assistance and this partnership allows us to fill a gap in our services.”
The LASPBC’s Veteran’s Advocacy Project is committed to assisting veterans and their families. The Legal Aid Society’s enhanced Veterans Advocacy Project concentrates in removing barriers to well-being and overall health for eligible veterans, their family and caregivers, and service members through the provision of free legal civil advice, consultation, representation and education related to housing, child support modifications, increasing V.A. disability ratings, requested upgrades to the character of discharge from the U.S. Armed Forces, and access to healthcare.
Thanks to FurrCohen’s partnership, LASPBC can now offer veterans facing financial hardship reduced-fee representation for bankruptcy proceedings, a service LASPBA says can help veterans obtain a fresh financial start.
“FurrCohen is pleased it is now working with the Veterans Advocacy Project of the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County to provide low bono legal services to select veterans,” said Robert Furr, founder of FurrCohen. “We are proud of the sacrifice of our veterans and are thankful we can help them in their time of need.”
Palm Beach County veterans who served in the U.S. military, regardless of discharge status, length of service, or era of service, are encouraged to contact LASPBC to see if they qualify for legal assistance.
