November 14, 2016 - Our Wage Dispute Team includes Attorney Vanessa Coe, Paralegal Miriam Erian, and Intake Specialist Ana Casey. Vanessa, who received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Florida and Law Degree from Nova Southeastern University, has worked at Legal Aid since March of this year. Prior to working with us, she had a Fellowship with Florida Legal Services where she worked for the Migrant Farmworker Justice Project. The knowledge she gained from that work experience together with her litigation skills, have been an immense asset to the clients she now represents at Legal Aid.
Paralegal Miriam Erian, a New York native, joined Legal Aid in May and works for both the Wage Dispute Project and the Educational Advocacy Project. She has been a paralegal for nine years and is currently working towards her M.B.A. at Florida Atlantic University. She says working at Legal Aid is the highlight of her legal career, she loves getting to help people.
South African native Ana Casey is the Intake Specialist for Wage Dispute and the Human Resource Generalist for the Non-Profit Legal Assistance Project. She has worked with us since 2003. In addition, she is a member of the HR Standing Committee for Alzheimer’s Community Care. She has a great love and passion for all animals, especially for the feline variety, including rescue efforts. She is honored to be a part of such a wonderful team at Legal Aid that so wholeheartedly serves the underprivileged population of our community.
